In 2019 Black Filmmaker Tyler Perry opened the largest film studio in America in Atlanta, Georgia. Anthony “Amp” Elmore Tennessee’s 1st Independent 35mm theatrical Filmmaker opened an created “Orange Mound Black Memphis Hollywood” a Black Memphis film company dedicated to empowering the underserved African/American community via producing films.
Elmore created Orange Mound Black Memphis Hollywood to fight White Supremacy, racism and Black on Black racism. While Anthony “Amp” Elmore is the 1st in his beloved city of Memphis to produce an Independent theatrical film, Elmore explains that as a Black Filmmaker he has been met with “White Supremacy, Racism and Black on Black Racism.”
While Elmore is Tennessee’s 1st Independent 35mm Theatrical Filmmaker Elmore describes the way he as been treated in Memphis as with the “Nigger Treatment.” Elmore notes that while his film gained national and international distribution and exposure he has not only never received positive exposure awarded to artist and White Memphis Filmmakers Elmore notes that the Memphis Shelby County Film and Tape commission while supporting and acknowledging White Filmmaker Elmore has been “racially omitted.”
Elmore in 2020 announced the “Preproduction of his new film” “Rock and Roll A Black Legacy.” While the City of Memphis invested over 5 million dollars in the “Failed NBC docu-drama Bluff City Law” The Memphis Shelby County tape and Film Commission would not support a news conference that promotes Blacks Films and Black Filmmakers.
Elmore in this short video announce that he had purchased a cinema film camera and movie production equipment. Elmore explains that our acquiring movie making film equipment iin essence makes us an “Official movie producing production Film Company.” Elmore explains that while Black Filmmaker Tyler Perry has a film production studio in Atlanta we in Memphis have “Orange Mound Black Memphis Hollywood” whereas we will make second Independent Film.
Elmore explains that we must move as our ancestors with faith. Elmore explains “It is not money that makes a Filmmaker. But a Filmmaker that makes money.” Elmore explain where would our Black music industry be if it was not for the spirit of Black artist challenging their circumstances and making “Rap Music.”
